Corrosion protection
The corrosion protection of metals is of major economic significance, because enormous tangible assets in the form of machinery, buildings, components, pipeline systems etc. etc. have to be protected against destruction by oxidation.
Although the chromate formerly used was highly effective, it was gradually replaced in the mid-eighties by alternative inhibitors such as phosphonates because of its high toxicity. Their mechanism of action is based in most cases on the formation of a very thin film on the metal surface.
Practical experience has shown that _Baypure® DS100 is able to support the corrosion-preventing effect of phosphonates. Also used on its own, _Baypure® DS100 is suitable for inhibiting corrosion on carbon steel.
